Home Buyers Telling You That You May Need To Upgrade?

If you want to sell your home and are wondering what type of upgrading you should be doing I am available to discuss this with you.

home buyers see dated home decorTake a look at the list below and if your home is guilty of any of the twenty things that will send a home buyer running, you may want to consider making some changes.

  1. Not all home buyers will appreciate “vintage” light fixtures or your avocado green stove.
  2. Dark colored walls would be difficult to paint over.
  3. Bold tile colors like Pepto Bismol pink.
  4. Wallpaper can be expensive and labor incentive to remove.
  5. The trim work is painted dark.
  6. Your kitchen is outdated and small and does not have any dining space and the appliances look dirty and old.
  7. The laminate countertops are cracked.
  8. Small closets.
  9. The family room does not have any built in book cases and no room to add them.
  10. The carpet is stained and the linoleum is worn.
  11. The addition looks and feels like an addition. It does not blend with the home’s architecture.
  12. The home feels dark and gloomy because there are not enough windows.
  13. There are so many recessed lighting and the ceiling looks like swiss cheese.
  14. There is a lot of cold ceramic tiled floors throughout the house, not just in the bathrooms and kitchens.

  17. Too many mirrors. Mirrors on the ceiling, mirrors on the backsplash in the kitchen. Mirrors on the closet doors. Buyers get dizzy.
  18. Small 1 inch baseboards.
  19. A noisy fan in the bathroom which does not turn of unless the light is turned off.
  20. Out of date bathroom lighting and out of date or gaudy light fixtures.
